CASE STUDY - APPLE STORE ON GEORGE STREET
To provide precise set out for stainless steel joinery & glass facade prior to arrival on site.
Panels are manufactured to =/-0.5mm and Kell & Rigby required survey to +/-1mm over the 3 levels of the site. Additionally provide survey marks for level and identify potential clashes with base build works.
The greatest engineering challenge was to provide set out to +/-1mm over the 3 levels of the site. All the elements of the fit out had jointing that related to other elements in the store. Each joint was of a nominated width and any mismeasurement would be apparent in relation to the adjacent element. Project Surveyors went back to first principles and combined the best of modern technologies with the “old school” principles often overlooked by modern surveyors. Using the best of both worlds we developed a methodology that achieved the stated accuracy and redundancy that is necessary to get results that exceed the measurement accuracy of any current instrumentation.
As a result of our success on the George Street project, Project Surveyors have been engaged for the subsequent stores across Australia. Despite there being changes in architect and the builders, we have remained the surveyor of choice for this project.
Over time we have worked closely with the builder and architect and have refined the set out to a very direct and elegant solution. Using our experience on these projects we offer the builder a solution to all the spatial issues, allowing them a clear start from the first day of a challenging program length.
Presently, we have completed nearly 20 stores in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney, Newcastle, Canberra, Melbourne & Perth.
