BIM is a process of managing building data during its entire lifecycle. BIM is primarily used as a design tool, to allow architects, engineers and builders to coordinate the design and construction of a building digitally before it is even built. Once the building is complete the BIM (Model) is handed over to the building owner to act as a digital copy of the asset. This model contains information on design, construction, logistics, operation, maintenance, budgets and schedules of quantities. This is where Project Surveyors comes in, the majority of existing buildings/assets were constructed prior to the adoption of Building Information Modelling, so all this information is scattered across physical plans, PDF documents and data storage systems; this is without even considering as-built plans which are typically outdated . By utilizing the latest in spatial capture technology, we can document an asset or building and create a Building Information Model for any asset.
